Purchasing Process

The first step in the process is to figure out what material you would like in your home. Some materials are more preferable for certain situations.

In order to get an accurate price for your kitchen, bathroom or unique project, we will need rough measurements of your requirements. To simplify the process, on the Pricing page you will find templates of common kitchen layouts where you can fill in the sizes. If your layout is not shown, there is a blank form available where you can draw it yourself.

In the case that you are not able to measure, even for estimation purposes, because of things such as complex designs or islands shapes, we are happy to come to your home and give you a no charge, no-obligation estimate.

The template visit usually takes 1 to 2 hours depending on the complexity of your project. We will call the day before the visit to verify our pre-scheduled appointment at your home or business. It is necessary that the person who is doing the decision making is on site to answer important questions such as location of seams and extension of overhangs. Feel free to share your ideas regarding different shapes and corners you were thinking about with our on-site technician.

In order to make the ideal custom countertops, all of the appliances need to be at the location including; the stove or cooktop, dishwasher, and fridge. If there is no space restriction for the fridge, the fridge need not be in place. If you are supplying the sink, it also needs to be on location so that we can take it back to the plant to use it as a template for the sink cutout. In most cases we ask that you have the existing countertops removed before the template appointment.

The “layout” is the scheduled appointment where you come to the fabrication shop to choose which area of your granite slabs will be used for which parts of your countertops.  With quartz or other materials that have a uniform general pattern, it is not necessary for you to layout your countertops. However, with natural materials that have a lot of movement and veining, we will require you to come in and make these decisions.  This is simply the best way for us to meet your expectations.

The installation visit generally takes longer than the initial template visit. Depending on the complexity of the installation it can take between 3 and 6 hours. Please make sure that the cabinets that will hold the sink and cook top are empty. Also the top drawers of the base cabinets need to be emptied as well.

If you have a cook top or a drop in sink, the final cutout typically is done at your home after the countertops are placed on the cabinets. This is because the stone cannot be safely transported with precut holes of that size in it. This can create a lot of dust. Our installers will take all possible measures to contain the dust by using a heavy duty shop vacuum cleaner at the point of cutting.

However, in spite of all our efforts, there is a possibility of some dust escaping. We advise our customers to close off all entry ways to the area of activity, and cover all valuable belongings in the affected area- like furniture, paintings etc. Our installation team will clean all of the debris created during the install. However, on rare occasions you may still require a more thorough cleaning after the stone is installed.

Upon completion, our install team will take your signature of approval and if paying by check, payment of the final balance, before leaving your premises.

You are always welcome to call our office with any questions about newly installed granite.
